Major Projects
The Abbotsford School District is committed to providing safe, modern, and inclusive learning environments that support student success. Major capital projects include new school construction, seismic upgrades, and facility expansions designed to meet growing enrolment and enhance educational opportunities. These projects are delivered in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Child Care and reflect the district’s long-term planning to ensure every student has access to high-quality spaces that foster learning, innovation, and community connection.

Abbotsford Middle School
The Abbotsford School District is nearing completion of the Abby Middle School expansion, delivered through a provincial pilot project that is the first of its kind in British Columbia. This pilot explores innovative construction methods designed to provide high-quality learning spaces more efficiently.
The expansion uses exterior prefabricated concrete wall panels that are installed directly onto the foundation, a first for both our district and the province, which has allowed the entire project to progress from start to near completion in just nine and one-half months. Notably, installation of the exterior walls took only two days, with panels lifted into place by a crane and welded to a steel frame to create a strong, durable structure.
This accelerated construction approach improves quality control, shortens timelines, and minimizes on-site disruption. Once complete, the expanded Abby Middle School will offer additional, modern learning spaces to support growing student needs in our community.
