Composting
As of November 2014, the Abbotsford School District is able to provide schools with a compost collection service. This service allows schools to collect their organic waste and have it picked up for transport to a commercial composting facility. The added benefit of this pick-up service is that schools can now collect a broader range and higher volume of compostable materials than onsite composts have historically be able to accomodate. This means less waste and more high quality compost.
Schools who are interested in signing up for the compost collection service should contact Julianne Pickrell for more information.
Net Zero Abbotsford is also offering fundraising opportunities and educational programs for K-12 students at their commercial composting facility on Gladwin Rd. Schools interested in booking a field trip should contact Net Zero's Education Coordinator.
